Primary PSC KPIs (DPI/DER) for the CY2022

RISK4SEA is announcing the Primary Port State Control Key Performance Indicators (PSC KPIs) for the period of the Calendar year 2022 with the objective to illuminate PSC performance across the major PSC regimes.

The KPIs presented are:

  • Deficiency Per Inspection = 100 x (sum of deficiencies recorded for the period, age group & regime) / (sum of inspections recorded for the period, age group & regime)
  • Detention Rate = 100 x (number of detentions for the period, age group & regime) / (sum of inspections recorded for the period, age group & regime)

The Notes accompanying the presentation are as follows:

  • Period of Analysis: Inspections occurred between 01/01 to 31/12 of 2022 I each of the respective regimes
  • Font Color: Green Font indicates the lowest value while red font indicates the highest value of the Fleet segment in the respective regime
  • Blank Cells: “ – “ indicates no deficiencies or detentions in the specific age group of the respective regime

The Key findings of these figures are as follows

  • Regime, Age Group and Fleet Segment dos matter, contrary to popular belief that more or less the KPIs are the same across all regimes
  • Age Groups KPIs vary significantly n each segment with figures 2x,3x or 4x of the older vs the younger ager groups
  • Paris and Tokyo may have a common pattern on the KPI trend and figures, however USCG have a totally different performance

The detailed analysis of these figures for the major PSC Regimes and oceangoing fleet segments across the five age groups is as follows:
